Woodturning courses

Are you interested in woodturning, would you like to take part in a introductory course or would you like to refresh your skills?

The introductory course (max. 6 participants per course) is aimed at all those who have never turned before. It does not require a qualification or previous training and children aged twelve or more are admitted under the constant supervision of a responsible person.

With the help of master carpenter Georges Reckinger, you will learn the basic steps of woodworking and turning with the correct operations. You will learn to use appropriate tools in complete safety, giving you free rein for your creativity.

Beginners finish the day with the basic exercises and a self-made workpiece, as well as an explanatory DVD from Magma..

For experienced woodturners who want to improve, we work on their specific questions (e.g. hollowing out vases), recognising the types of wood, how to gather and maintain a stock of wood, turning end grain, sharpening tools, etc.). You can come to the course with your own concept, so we can follow your approach and give you advice. Each course participant benefits from the experience of their fellow students.

The price of the courses is 280.-€ incl. 16 % VAT per weekend. Tools and wood for basic exercises are included, but you may also bring your own wood.

Wear an apron (Wood chips tickle!) and well-fitting safety shoes.

Bring your own lunch! We will take time to exchange ideas, watch a video and consult books to discover the work of woodturners from around the world.

The course is in German & French language, can also be translated into English on request.

This basic woodturning course with master carpenter Georges Reckinger is a basic course for beginners developed by the Magma company. You will learn all the possibilities of a wood lathe. Traditional and modern clamping devices, chucks and various tools are explained and used in this course. We place great emphasis in our basic courses on sharpening the tools, their handling and guidance. In this course, you will learn basic techniques in longitudinal and transverse woodturning, the turning of artistic objects and much more. Incl. DVD Magma Basic Techniques.

In this advanced woodturning course with master woodturner Stephan Feichtinger ((course leader at Magma) you will exclusively turn green wood. Thin-walled bowls in cross wood as well as goblets and vases in end wood. Throw-over turning’ and turning with the ring knife are as much a part of the course as turning with the hook.

The course is held in German with translation into French and English.

This intensive woodturning course with master carpenter Georges Reckinger s a follow-up course to the basic woodturning course. We repeat the sharpening of the woodturning irons on the Magma sharpening jigs. We turn in dry cross wood … Plates up to 38 cm diameter … Bowls and decorative objects. You will learn different colouring and surface techniques.

Additional fee for special tools & material € 30,00 (16 % VAT incl.).
